Adoption update!

Hi Team,

Just thought you would like to see how Daphne is going. My partner Alex adopted her on 25 June. She has settled in so well and we are starting puppy preschool next week. Toilet training is also going well and she is learning to sit on command and not bark when we leave for short periods. She also loves her big sister Ronda who comes to stay on the weekend.

Thanks so much for bringing this goofy little girl into our lives.

Kind regards,
Georgia

8 years volunteering!
Congratulations to Blake for celebrating his 8 years as a dedicated volunteer with both the dogs and cats at AHF and now at the new centre BARC.
Blake's genuine love for all animals shows through in every interaction.
Blake has even adopted a dog from us many years ago (Meg), who has sadly now passed away, but Blake and his wife Helina have continued to rescuing animals together from all over the place!
Blake once said that he enjoys his time volunteering as "he was sick of going to the pound and feeling helpless". By volunteering, Blake says "this is a way he can help the dogs and cats who are at the centre".
Pictured in this photo is Blake and his adopted dog Meg, Blake adopted Meg in 2017 and he used to take her out every week because she was his favourite dog because she was so sweet and placid. When she first came to the Facility, she was so nervous and then all she wanted to do was cuddle and be loved. Blake would take her into the off-leash dog area, and she wouldn't want to run because she just preferred to sit and cuddle.
This goes to show that volunteers make a huge difference to the lives of the animals at the centre. Volunteers contribute to a positive experience by ensuring animals are happy and well socialised which improves their chances for adoption.
Thank you, Blake, for your continued commitment to the animals since being at the AHF and now at the new centre BARC

Adoption update!

Thought we would give you an update on our beautiful Chevy boy.

It's been two years since we adopted this beautiful guy.

We are so in love with him and he’s been with us since July 2022 and he is such a great companion.

I’ve never had an Am Staff before and I’ve realised they have these incredible personalities and try to be independent but just want cuddles.

Thanks for caring for him until we got him.

BARC's 1st Birthday!!

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating our first birthday at BARC last month!

It was a fun and exciting month as we hosted a puppy adoption day with a delicious BBQ cooked by Outback Steakhouse.

Our Paws and Paintz classes with both cats and dogs were a hit, and we were thrilled to have found forever homes for 144 animals during the month of June.

Your support and love for our furry friends mean the world to us, and we are grateful for each and every one of you who came out to celebrate and adopt an animal. Here's to many more years of saving and loving animals together at BARC!

We adopted Lylah (now Makita) on the 22nd of June and although it’s been a week and a half she’s settled in amazingly.

She skipped right past the 3-3-3 rule and has become the sweetest (and craziest) companion. She’s consistently eating her food, loves to snuggle and head bump, explore outside on her new harness, investigate the whole house, play on her giant cat tower and 3 scratching posts, and ‘box’ us by playfully smacking us when we try to leave for work.

Weekly Team dog walks

At BARC, we are dedicated to providing a positive and enriching experience for our canine companions through our weekly team group dog walks. Our focus on socialization and basic training gives our dogs valuable interactions with both humans and other animals, promoting well-rounded behaviour and social skills.

In addition to traditional training methods, we also incorporate clicker training into our walks, offering a fun and effective way to reinforce positive behaviours. This modern approach to training allows us to communicate with our dogs in a clear and encouraging manner, building trust and confidence in our furry friends.

Our team group dog walks not only benefit our dogs, but also provide our team members with a chance to connect with each other and form strong bonds. The fresh air and exercise help to rejuvenate our spirits, reminding us of the joy that comes from working with animals.

These walks are more than just a routine activity - they are a vital part of our commitment to bringing happiness and love into the lives of our deserving animals. Join us at BARC and see the difference that a simple walk can make in the lives of our furry friends.

Adoption update

We rescued Cleo August 2023… little did we know how our lives would change.

Cleo was a timid little love bug frightened of cars and nervous of new people… she is now a wild firecracker.
she loves to explore, play tug of war and catch, she is the best little listener unless she’s being cheeky and runs away with your clothes.

She has recently discovered how to rip apart toys… so we are having to increase the toy stock in our home. Seeing her so carefree and joyful means so much. Anyone questioning on whether a Staffy is a good choice; there is no question!
They take a little patience and for you to find your love language together. They are worth the dinosaur stage!! Snuggles fix everything!

Thank you again BARC team; we love our wild little baby dinosaur!

Love,
Mandy & Ben

Happy amazing 10 year to these two lovely ladies!
Donna and Emma entered our lives as volunteers 10 years ago and we are all so thankful.
They are the ultimate mother and daughter team with so much kindness, humour and great love for dogs.
They volunteer every week to help our dogs, focusing on the most misunderstood and “difficult” dogs. You can tell that their mission is to make sure everyone can see what a great dog every single dog is, they have so much patience with zero judgement and are able to bring the best out of every dog they interact with.
Our team and our dogs would not be the same without them.
Thank you Donna and Emma for your 10 years of commitment to the dogs and our centre, from the AHF and BARC you have grown but have not changed. You both still come in with the same positive attitude, the same smiles with lots of laughter and the same amount of passion, care and commitment every week.
You two are the true definition of what volunteering is all about.

Adoption update!

We adopted Paisley almost two months ago after her 6 month+ stint at BARC. She is a beautiful girl who is so affectionate. She’s the rare kind of cat that will sleep on you and when you need to move, she’s fine with being shifted! She won’t run away like most. She gets along well with our two other cats. Paisley is friendly with us adults and our two young children. We are so glad we get to be her guardian as she brings so much to our life.

Adoption update

Hi!

We are Minnie’s adopted family. She came to live with us in May this year after being at BARC for 6 months.

15 years ago in 2009 we adopted another stray cat from BARC. We named her Chloe and she had been the most amazing pet so when she finally died early this year it was great loss to our family.

So finding Minnie was such an amazing blessing. She was quite nervous when she came home but after 6 weeks with us she has relaxed and learned to trust us and feel safe in our home and with us.

She loves to have a chat and follows us around the house or sit with us on the lounge or on have a nap on one of our beds. When she’s not sleeping she loves playing with all her toys, getting the zoomies and most of all getting lots of love and pats. Recently when we were unwell she would sit on our beds to keep us company. She’s a beautiful gentle soul and we love her very much.

Thank you to all the people at BARC for the amazing job you do and thank you for caring for Minnie until we could bring her home.
